For her Master’s project at Columbia, Laura wrote about a dramatic case of mass hysteria that spread through a small town in western New York in the winter of 2011. She focused on a 36-year-old nurse who “caught” the illness through Facebook. The Atlantic published a final version on their website titled “What Witchcraft Is Facebook?”  In September 2013, Laura appeared on HuffPost Live to discuss her work.
